Since pens were mass produced – though often hand-fitted – replacement parts taken from an identical pen are accepted as original and in no way harm the value of a pen so restored.  The substitution of parts that differ from the originals, however, will devalue a pen, as will the use of reproduction parts.  This should be disclosed when a pen is offered for sale.
